March is My Favorite

March has always been one of your mommy's favorite times of year (and not just because it's my birthmonth). The weather alone makes it the best month of the year. The winter is thawing but it's not too hot yet. The trees are starting to bloom but the world isn't covered in yellow yet. There's college basketball, it's almost baseball season, life is just good. And life was good for you this past March.

You helped me cohost a co-ed baby shower for Ethan's little brother.

You mostly enjoyed playing outside.

But you enjoyed playing inside, too.

You also learned how to crawl into Chelsea's bed while holding a pair of nail clippers that you were chewing on so the dog hair clung to the saliva. Then you learned the word "yucky," which you thought was hilarious.

The best part of March, though, is Mommy's birthday. Last year was my golden birthday (29 on the 29th), but I didn't make a big deal out of it. I was on maternity leave and felt guilty spending money when I wasn't contributing to our household income, and I think I still wasn't quite feeling like myself. I love making a big deal out of birthdays, so I knew in hindsight this was a poor decision. I swore on March 30th last year that my next birthday was going to be one to remember.

Your daddy heard that promise and followed through with it. He surprised me with flowers, gifts, even a full-blown surprise party with some of my favorite people! Best of all, Auntie Amanda came for a surprise visit. She even brought Mr. Tristan, who none of us had met yet!

You two hit it off right away.

Actually, we all did.

We had such a great time celebrating together. Thanks for making my 30th birthday the best one yet!
