Twelve Months Old

One. Whole. YEAR. How did that happen? Before I get into what it's like having a one-year-old and what your first birthday (and first memorable second Christmas) was like, I'm going to continue with the monthly updates that I have been so faithful with for an entire year now, albeit a bit delayed this month.

In the twelfth month of your life, much of our world revolved around preparation for holidays. You enjoyed your first Thanksgiving, you spent time with family, you picked out your first Christmas tree, and, of course, you met Santa. I'm not going to lie: I was excited about meeting Santa. Most kids your age are pretty terrified of him, which makes for some pretty hilarious pictures. If they're not afraid of him, then it makes for an adorable photo. It was a win-win for Mommy and Daddy. Much to our surprise, you actually loved Santa! We got a very sweet photo and enjoyed a nice brunch out at Muss & Turners.

You really enjoyed your first Thanksgiving, both at home and at school, especially because you got to spend so much time with people you love. The food, however, well you could take or leave it. You're definitely becoming a more choosy eater, but we're learning to offer you lots of healthy options so that you can choose independently like the big girl that you are.

You're still not showing any interest in walking, but you're becoming quite the speed demon when it comes to crawling, cruising, and pushing your little alligator walker around the house! You're becoming more and more social every day, and you're starting to show more of an interest in signing. You've had a little bit of a sleep regression recently, but we're attributing that to molars...you're getting more teeth every day!

You're such a busy girl, it's getting harder and harder to keep up with this blog regularly. I'm going to shoot from bimonthly updates at minimum, but if I don't get around to it, just know that it's because I'm having too much fun playing with you!
