Tomorrow, Our Fun Begins

Tomorrow, I take a test that I've been studying for since before I was even pregnant with you. In fact, we kind of planned you around this test! It's difficult to enjoy maternity leave when I have to study during every single one of your naps. (It's quite a bit of "dual tasking," to use some neurorehab vernacular.) But during breakfast this morning, I managed to write a quick song about how wonderful life will be tomorrow when it's all over. See if you can guess what it's to the tune of! Hint: I'm dedicating this song to your Auntie Shannon.

7 AM, the usual morning lineup:
Feed you and change you into a diaper that's clean
Take out the trash, do laundry, and wash up
Restock wipes, and by then it's like 7:15.

And so we'll read a book
Or maybe two or three
You'll play in your gym and smile at your birdies
We'll take a break to snuggle
Because how can I resist?
And tomorrow, our fun begins

Finally make it downstairs with hopes of eating
Let Chelsea out and do last night's dishes
Sterilize pump parts, bottles, and pacifiers
Then I'll make some oatmeal, coffee,
Tend to my wishes!

And then I'll study that book
So many articles to reread!
I'll thaw some milk for tomorrow
(Thank God for your bouncy seat!)
And then I'll study and study
And study neuro PT
Stuck in the same place I've always been.

And I'll keep wonderin' and wonderin'
And wonderin' what it will be like
When our fun finally begins

And tomorrow night,
The NCS will be over
So Mommy probably won't be very sober
What will it be like
No longer studying so?
Now it's your nap time
But first we have to sing
"Let It Go"
